HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Paul Arthur Walker of Ewing, who passed away on June 22, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Paul Walker was born in Ewing on August 28, 1929 to Mason and Wilma (Toombs) Walker; he married Ella Dillow on September 18, 1948; and

WHEREAS, Paul Walker served his country for 21 years in the United States Navy as a chief in aviation mechanics; he fought in the Korean War and made numerous cruises on board the USS Hancock, the USS Kitty Hawk, and the USS Bennington; he also taught mechanics to air crewmen at Coronado Island, California; and

WHEREAS, After retiring, Paul Walker worked for PSA Airlines as a mechanic and at Hughes Tool Factory, both in California; he and his wife moved back to Ewing in 1976 and opened a welding shop; and

WHEREAS, Paul Walker served as the mayor of Ewing for 14 years and as a deacon at Ewing Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Paul Walker was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Arthur Dale Walker; his 4 sisters; and his 4 brothers; and

WHEREAS, Paul Walker is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ella; his sons, Michael (Wanda) Walker and Robert (Patricia) Walker; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul Arthur Walker, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Walker as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
