HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Peggy and Bob Yeakley on the occasion of their retirement after 45 years of owning and operating Yeakley's Market in Hammond; and

WHEREAS, Peggy and Bob Yeakley began operating Hammond's grocery store on October 13, 1969; throughout the years, Yeakley's Market has sold all sorts of food, drink, and even antiques; and

WHEREAS, Operating a grocery store had been Bob Yeakley's goal since he was a 7-year-old growing up in Taylorville; by the age of 15, he was working at Cloyd's Food Center in Decatur, and at the age of 28, he took over Hammond's grocery store; and

WHEREAS, Peggy and Bob Yeakley have dedicated their lives to their store, having only taken a total of 2 weeks of vacation in the 45 years they have operated it; and

WHEREAS, Peggy and Bob Yeakley's love for their business is why they do not mind arriving for work at 4 a.m., 6 days a week; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Peggy and Bob Yeakley on their retirement after 45 years of owning and operating Yeakley's Market in Hammond and we wish them the best in all their future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Peggy and Bob Yeakley as an expression of our esteem and respect.
