HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Stevenson High School Patriots on the occasion of winning 6 State titles during the 2014-2015 academic year; and

WHEREAS, In the 50th year of Adlai E. Stevenson High School, Stevenson won its first State championships in football, boys basketball, and girls water polo; the boys gymnastics team also won its fifth State title and the math and Science Olympiad teams each won their second State championships; and

WHEREAS, The Patriots football team defeated Homewood-Flossmoor 31 to 25 and won the Class 8A title in Springfield; and

WHEREAS, The Patriots claimed their first boys State basketball title with a 57 to 40 victory over Normal in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, The Patriots boys gymnastics team, with only 3 members on varsity, won the State championship in Hinsdale; and

WHEREAS, The Patriots girls water polo team capped an undefeated season with a State title in their home pool in Lincolnshire; and

WHEREAS, The Patriots Science Olympiad team defeated defending State champions New Trier with a score of 105 to 143 at the University of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Patriots Math team won the Class 4AA state championship with an overall score of 1,073 points at the University of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Stevenson High School on a year of athletic and scholastic success and wish them many more successful years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Stevenson High School as an expression of our esteem and respect.
