HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Naperville Mayor
4A. George Pradel on the occasion of his retirement; and
 
5    WHEREAS, A. George Pradel was born in Hyde Park and moved
6to Naperville in 1939; he has been a resident of Naperville
7since then; and
 
8    WHEREAS, A. George Pradel served his country in the United
9States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959; he later served for 29
10years with the Naperville Police Department, where he earned
11the nickname of "Officer Friendly" through his work in visiting
12schools and speaking to children; he retired from the
13Naperville Police Department at the rank of lieutenant on April
1430, 1995 in order to serve as Mayor of Naperville; he was
15subsequently reelected to the position in 1999, 2003, 2007, and
162011; and
 
17    WHEREAS, As Mayor of Naperville, A. George Pradel was well
18known and well regarded for his many public appearances, his
19friendly demeanor, and his great and unwavering enthusiasm for
20Naperville; and
 
21    WHEREAS, In 2013, A. George Pradel was awarded an honorary

1degree from North Central College in honor of his tireless
2devotion to the City of Naperville and North Central College;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, A. George Pradel and his wife, Pat Pradel, have
5been married for over 50 years; together, they have 3 children,
6George, Gary, and Carol; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9congratulate Mayor A. George Pradel on the occasion of his
10retirement and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and
11be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to A. George Pradel as a symbol of our respect and
14esteem.
