HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Naperville Mayor A. George Pradel on the occasion of his retirement; and

WHEREAS, A. George Pradel was born in Hyde Park and moved to Naperville in 1939; he has been a resident of Naperville since then; and

WHEREAS, A. George Pradel served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959; he later served for 29 years with the Naperville Police Department, where he earned the nickname of "Officer Friendly" through his work in visiting schools and speaking to children; he retired from the Naperville Police Department at the rank of lieutenant on April 30, 1995 in order to serve as Mayor of Naperville; he was subsequently reelected to the position in 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2011; and

WHEREAS, As Mayor of Naperville, A. George Pradel was well known and well regarded for his many public appearances, his friendly demeanor, and his great and unwavering enthusiasm for Naperville; and

WHEREAS, In 2013, A. George Pradel was awarded an honorary degree from North Central College in honor of his tireless devotion to the City of Naperville and North Central College; and

WHEREAS, A. George Pradel and his wife, Pat Pradel, have been married for over 50 years; together, they have 3 children, George, Gary, and Carol; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mayor A. George Pradel on the occasion of his retirement and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to A. George Pradel as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
