HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Community colleges in the State of Illinois are public institutions that receive State funding; and

WHEREAS, The College of DuPage is governed by a Board of Trustees; and

WHEREAS, The College of DuPage Board of Trustees recently approved a $763,000 severance package for its current President; and

WHEREAS, The College of DuPage Board of Trustees is under scrutiny for its spending on meals, beverages, and alcohol for Trustees, spending nearly $20,000 on meals over a 16-month period from September of 2013 to December of 2014; and

WHEREAS, The DuPage County State's Attorney's Office is currently investigating spending by the College of DuPage Board of Trustees in response to media reports and citizen concerns regarding the improper use of funds; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the College of DuPage is urged to report all administrative expenses for Fiscal Year 2015 and all forthcoming years to the General Assembly; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Trustees of the College of DuPage are urged to participate in professional board development training to enhance their knowledge of board governance and of the duties of a Trustee; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the College of DuPage Board of Trustees is urged to establish a finance committee to evaluate and implement best practices in accounting, transparency, and budgeting.
