HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, State Representative Monique D. Davis and the members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rev. Howard S. Nichols, Sr. of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Nichols was born in Canton, Mississippi on August 17, 1936 to Walter and Rosie Nichols; he received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Roosevelt University; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Nichols was an ordained minister and the dedicated pastor of Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Nichols is survived by his wife, Ruth E. (nee Hudson) Nichols; his children, Debra, Shari (Curtis, Sr.), Krista (Greg), Marva (Thomas), and Howard, Jr.; a host of grandchildren, other family, and friends; and the congregation of Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Rev. Howard S. Nichols, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rev. Nichols as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
