HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Barbara Ferguson on the occasion of receiving the Altrusa International Club of Elgin, Inc. Woman of the Year 2015 Award; and

WHEREAS, Altrusa International Club of Elgin, Inc. is an international service organization comprised of executive and professional women; the Altrusa Club of Elgin sponsors a number of projects in the community through volunteerism and monetary support; its members reside throughout the Northern Fox Valley area, including Elgin, South Elgin, Bartlett, Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Carpentersville, Algonquin, Bartlett, Hampshire, Huntley, and Pingree Grove; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Ferguson graduated from the University of San Francisco with a bachelor's degree in both education and world literature; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Ferguson has been an integral part of the Dundee Township community for over 30 years; she is a board member of Summit School, Inc., the Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township, and the Northwest Suburban United Way; she previously served as a board director of the Dundee Township United Way, the Community Crisis Center, and the League of Women Voters; she is also an active member of Saint Catherine of Siena Church in West Dundee; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Ferguson has volunteered 16 years of board service with the Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township, serving on a variety of leadership roles and committees over the years; she and her husband are beloved for their Annual Dinner "500 Homemade Cookies" Live Auction donation, which has raised nearly $50,000 per year over the past 5 years; her advocacy for the organization also helped the Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township to acquire a $200,000 Education Grant through the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago; she has also volunteered for numerous other organizations throughout the Dundee Township area, including the Centro de Informacion, the Fox Valley Hospice, and many others; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Ferguson has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the Boys and Girls Club Volunteer of the Year Award in 2012 and the Dundee Township Rotary Club's "Service Above Self" Award in 2013; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Ferguson and her husband, Roger, have 2 children and 7 grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Ferguson serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Barbara Ferguson on the occasion of receiving the Altrusa International Club of Elgin, Inc. Woman of the Year 2015 Award and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Barbara Ferguson as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
