HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Morton High
4School Lady Potters on its remarkable 2014-2015 season,
5finishing with a record of 33 wins and 3 losses, and winning
6the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A State
7Championship; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The team had a successful season with several
9impressive highlights including a win at the Morton
10Thanksgiving Tournament and the Mid-Illini Conference; and
 
11    WHEREAS, This year's victory at the Galesburg Winter
12Classic marks the Lady Potter's 5th consecutive championship at
13the tournament; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The 2014-2015 Lady Potter's set a school record of
1533 wins as well as a team record of 472 free throws; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The team was the IHSA Morton Regional Champions,
17the IHSA LaSalle-Peru Sectional Champions, and the IHSA
18Romeoville Super Sectional Champions; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The team had 2 noteworthy wins against defending
20State champions Lombard Montini in the Final Four with a score

1of 58-44, and against Rochester in the Class 3A State
2Championship game with a score of 47-37; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The team finished off its season with a IHSA Class
43A State Championship; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Becker has been the team's head coach for 16
6years now and has a 348-139 record; the assistant coaches are
7Rodney Knuppel, Megan Hasler, Bill Davis, and Brooke Bisping;
8managers of the team are Charis Short and Jossie Weller; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The Lady Potters include: Seniors, Kathleen
10Sauders and Emma Heisler; Juniors, Chandler Ryan, Kayla
11McCormick, and Jadison Wharram; Sophomores, Alexis Opel,
12Brandi Bisping, Lisa Walter, and Jacey Wharram; and Freshmen,
13Josi Becker, Kassidy Shurman, Jena Liddle, Crystal Cobler, and
14Caylie Jones; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Morton High School Lady Potters team was a
16model for success, setting team records and showing their
17strong moral character; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20congratulate the Lady Potters on its successful 2014-2015
21season and State Championship, and we wish them great success

2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the Morton High School Lady Potters Team as a
4symbol of our esteem and respect.
