HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Dean Bishop on the
4occasion of his retirement after 48 years of serving in the
5Greene County Coroner's Office; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dean Bishop became a licensed funeral director in
71963; he has served for the past 24 years as the Greene County
8Coroner; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dean Bishop and his late wife, Brenda, were the
10third generation owners of the third-longest, family-owned
11funeral home in Illinois, which opened in 1898 and is currently
12known as the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dean Bishop and Brenda organized and assisted with
14several fundraisers over the years to help individuals and
15families with illnesses and hardships, including the Friend in
16Deed program; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dean Bishop is active in Greenfield United
18Methodist Church, where he has held numerous leadership roles,
19including as head of the Bible school; he is active with the
20local Lions Club, where he served as President; he was a Little
21League Baseball manager and served as Khoury League

1Commissioner; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dean Bishop was recently honored for over 50 years
3as the announcer for the Greenfield High School Tigers football
4games; he was also the scorekeeper for Tigers basketball and
5made two trips to the State basketball tournament as the head
6scorekeeper; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9congratulate Dean Bishop on his retirement after 48 years of
10serving in the Greene County Coroner's Office, and we wish him
11the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Dean Bishop as an expression of our esteem and
14respect.
