HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize Illinois State Representative Adam Brown for his years of service and hard work on behalf of the people of the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Representative Brown married his wife, Stephanie, during his first term in office; they are the proud parents of two children, Elise and Kenton; and

WHEREAS, Representative Brown received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned a master's degree in public administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield; and

WHEREAS, At age 23, Representative Brown was the youngest person ever elected to the Decatur City Council, serving as Councilman from 2009 to 2010, before being elected to the Illinois House of Representatives; and

WHEREAS, Representative Brown was honored to be selected as a 2013 Edgar Fellow and earned recognition as one of the Central Illinois Business Journal's Top 20 under 40; and

WHEREAS, Representative Brown is pleased to serve as Republican Conference Chairperson and is one of the youngest members to ever be named to House Republican Leadership; and

WHEREAS, During his three terms as State Representative, Representative Brown has focused on job creation, cutting wasteful spending, and increasing accountability and transparency in Illinois State government; and

WHEREAS, Representative Brown worked in a bipartisan manner to sponsor and pass an incentive package to secure the $1.2 billion urea fertilizer production plant that Cronus Chemicals LLC, Inc. is building in Tuscola; construction of the facility will create approximately 2,000 construction jobs and attract at least $500 million in investment to east central Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Representative Brown is a fifth-generation family farmer and is retiring from the Illinois House of Representatives to lead the operation of B & B Farms; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate our friend and colleague, Representative Adam Brown, on his retirement from the Illinois House of Representatives, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Representative Brown as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
