HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bill Puhse and Amy Heath on receiving the 2016 Best School Blood Drive Coordinator Award on behalf of the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; and

WHEREAS, As co-sponsors of the Granite City High School National Honor Society, Bill Puhse and Amy Heath have been organizing blood drives since 2009; and

WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Bill Puhse and Amy Heath, two blood drives are held at the school each year and two additional drives are held in the community; their efforts to reach more donors including many parents and alumni, have been very successful; and

WHEREAS, Bill Puhse and Amy Heath's 27 blood drives have resulted in the collection of nearly 3,000 units of blood, which have the potential to save 12,000 lives; and

WHEREAS, Due to the hard work of Bill Puhse and Amy Heath, high school blood drives will continue to play a critical role in cultivating lifetime donors; and

WHEREAS, Bill Puhse and Amy Heath were nominated by the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center as the 2016 "Best School Blood Drive Coordinators" in a statewide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Bill Puhse and Amy Heath for their commitment to ensure a healthy blood supply in their community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Bill Puhse and Amy Heath as an expression of our esteem and respect.
