HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Monroe Elementary School in Hinsdale on being designated a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education; and

WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools, where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in student academic achievement; and

WHEREAS, For 2016, Monroe Elementary School is one of only 279 public schools in the nation to receive this honor, and one of only 16 public elementary, middle, and high schools in Illinois; it is the sixth of nine schools in District 181 to earn the award; and

WHEREAS, The principal of Monroe Elementary School is Justin Horne; and

WHEREAS, Monroe Elementary School celebrated this honor as part of its Walk to School celebration on October 5, 2016; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Monroe Elementary School on being designated a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School, and we wish them many more years of success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Monroe Elementary School as an expression of our esteem and respect.
