HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Christopher Wagoner on the occasion of receiving the "2016 Rural Physician of Excellence Award" from the Illinois Rural Health Association; and

WHEREAS, One of the biggest healthcare challenges across our nation is the shortage of physicians who practice in rural settings; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Christopher Wagoner graduated from the Rural Medical Education (RMED) program at the University of Illinois in 2007; since then, he has served as an associate professor of family and community medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, In 2010, Dr. Christopher Wagoner joined the Illini Rural Health Clinic, where he currently serves as Medical Director; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Christopher Wagoner demonstrates his compassion for his elderly patients by the house calls he makes to many of them, a rarity in 21st century medical practice; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Christopher Wagoner serves as the Medical Director of Illini X-Press, providing his patients access to medical care outside normal practice hours; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Christopher Wagoner oversees seven nurse practitioners, expanding the radius of service so many rural patients who would otherwise need to travel more than an hour can receive care closer to home; and

WHEREAS, In his free time, Dr. Christopher Wagoner serves on the Board of Directors for the Pike County Health Department; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Christopher Wagoner's talents are not limited to his medical practice, but are also demonstrated by his duck hunting skills; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. Christopher Wagoner on the occasion of his receiving the "2016 Rural Physician of Excellence Award" and thank him for his selfless service to his community and the impact he has made on improving rural health; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Christopher Wagoner as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
