| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Monsignor | 4 | | Virgil W. Mank, who passed away on June 28, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Msgr. Virgil Mank was born on December 25, 1939 in | 6 | | New Baden; his parents were William C. and Louise A. Mank; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Msgr. Virgil Mank was ordained a priest at the | 8 | | Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield by Bishop | 9 | | William A. O'Connor on May 22, 1965; he began his more than 50 | 10 | | years of priestly service in the diocese of Springfield as | 11 | | Associate Pastor of St. Agnes Parish in Springfield from 1965 | 12 | | to 1969; he served as Associate Pastor of St. Elizabeth Parish | 13 | | in Granite City from 1969 to 1970; from 1970 to 1975, he served | 14 | | as Chaplain of the Newman Community at Eastern Illinois | 15 | | University in Charleston; he served as Associate Pastor at SS. | 16 | | Peter & Paul Parish in Collinsville from 1975 to 1977 and as | 17 | | Co-Administrator at St. Mary Catholic Church in Taylorville and | 18 | | at St. Rita Catholic Church in Kincaid from 1977 to 1979; he | 19 | | also served as Pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption in Ste. | 20 | | Marie and St. Valentine at The Bend from 1979 to 1981, Pastor | 21 | | at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon from 1981 to | 22 | | 1988, Pastor at St. Ambrose Parish in Godfrey from 1988 to | 23 | | 2004, and Pastor of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy from |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Msgr. Virgil Mank was appointed Dean of the Alton | 3 | | Deanery in 1987, serving until his retirement in 2009; he | 4 | | served as Parochial Administrator of the Diocese from October | 5 | | 3, 1999 to December 19, 1999; on February 19, 2002, he received | 6 | | the honor as Chaplain to his Holiness (Monsignor) by Pope John | 7 | | Paul II; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Msgr. Virgil Mank was preceded in death by his | 9 | | parents; his brother, Louis A. Mank; and his brothers-in-law, | 10 | | William Wadlow and Richard Gier; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Msgr. Virgil Mank is survived by his sisters, | 12 | | Darlene Wadlow and Mary Gier; his brothers, Billy (Connie) | 13 | | Mank, James (Lynne) Mank, and Timothy (Michelle) Mank; and many | 14 | | nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; | 15 | | therefore, be it
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 17 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 18 | | we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of | 19 | | Monsignor Virgil W. Mank; and be it further
