HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Chicago-area parishes are privileged by the
3arrival of His Holiness Moran Mar Baselius Mar Thoma Paulose
4II, and will be hosting a reception in his honor on July 2,
52016 at St. Thomas Orthodox Church in Chicago; and
 
6    WHEREAS, His Holiness is the supreme head of the Manlankara
7Orthodox Syrian Church of the East; and
 
8    WHEREAS, His Holiness is the true successor of St. Thomas
9and administers the affairs of the church sitting on the throne
10of the Apostle St. Thomas as an autonomous ruler over an
11autocephalous church; and
 
12    WHEREAS, His Holiness Moran Mar Baselius Mar Thoma Paulose
13II is the 91st successor of the throne of St. Thomas the
14Apostle; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Manlankara Orthodox Syrian Church of the East
16is as old as Christianity and has existed in India for the past
1720 centuries ever since St. Thomas the Apostle founded the
18Church in 52 A.D.; the church has been recognized by all world
19Christian denominations, Roman Catholics, Protestant, and the
20Eastern and the Oriental Orthodox Churches, along with the
21World Council of Churches as an independent, indigenous, and

1autocephalous Church; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The Manlankara Orthodox Syrian Church of the East
3now has faithful followers, clergy, bishops, and parishes in
4India, Malaysia, the Middle East, Europe, Australia, Africa,
5the Americas, and all over the world; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8welcome His Holiness Moran Mar Baselius Mar Thoma Paulose II to
9the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to His Holiness Moran Mar Baselius Mar Thoma Paulose
12II as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
