HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sigi Psimenos, who passed away at the age of 65; and

WHEREAS, Sigi Psimenos was born in Germany; she spent most of her life in Chicago and moved to Elgin about 15 years ago; and

WHEREAS, Sigi Psimenos was involved in many community initiatives; she served as president of the League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area; she was a co-founder of Next Wave Art Salon, Art and Soul on the Fox, and Stop Global Warming (now the Elgin Climate Change Organization); she was active with many groups, including the Elgin Green Expo, the Community Gardening Network, the Elgin Community Network, and One Billion Rising; she worked on many summer reading and public art projects with the Gail Borden Public Library; she was also part of a working group for Elgin's sustainable city master plan and volunteered for the 2010 United States Census; and

WHEREAS, Sigi Psimenos was well known for her impeccable interior design and painting skills and decorated her home with hand-painted ceilings and floors; she was also a co-host of the radio show "Two Old Broads" with her friend Maria D'Angelo; and

WHEREAS, Sigi Psimenos was preceded in death by her husband, Nick; and

WHEREAS, Sigi Psimenos is survived by her son, Anthony Pedote, and many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Sigi Psimenos; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sigi Psimenos as an expression of our sympathy.
