HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sigi
4Psimenos, who passed away at the age of 65; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sigi Psimenos was born in Germany; she spent most
6of her life in Chicago and moved to Elgin about 15 years ago;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Sigi Psimenos was involved in many community
9initiatives; she served as president of the League of Women
10Voters of the Elgin Area; she was a co-founder of Next Wave Art
11Salon, Art and Soul on the Fox, and Stop Global Warming (now
12the Elgin Climate Change Organization); she was active with
13many groups, including the Elgin Green Expo, the Community
14Gardening Network, the Elgin Community Network, and One Billion
15Rising; she worked on many summer reading and public art
16projects with the Gail Borden Public Library; she was also part
17of a working group for Elgin's sustainable city master plan and
18volunteered for the 2010 United States Census; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Sigi Psimenos was well known for her impeccable
20interior design and painting skills and decorated her home with
21hand-painted ceilings and floors; she was also a co-host of the
22radio show "Two Old Broads" with her friend Maria D'Angelo; and

1    WHEREAS, Sigi Psimenos was preceded in death by her
2husband, Nick; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Sigi Psimenos is survived by her son, Anthony
4Pedote, and many friends; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of
8Sigi Psimenos; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Sigi Psimenos as an expression of
11our sympathy.
