HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The work of Illinois government requires constant
3efforts from many unrecognized individuals who keep the
4proverbial wheels of state turning; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The work of one such individual, Cheryl Waak, who,
6for 21 years has served the House of Representatives with
7intelligence and grace, certainly deserves our praise today,
8the final day of her duty to the House; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Cheryl Waak began her political activism in 1992
10and began working for Illinois State Representative Dave
11Winters in 1995; she worked with Representative Winters until
12he resigned his position in August of 2012, at which time she
13began working for newly-appointed State Representative John M.
14Cabello; former Representative Winters has said that she was
15exceptional at working with various agencies and has a sterling
16reputation for getting things done for each Representative's
17constituency; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Prior to working as a Legislative Assistant,
19Cheryl Waak worked for 10 years as a teacher's aide in a
20computer class, where she taught countless children and was
21considered a surrogate mother to many of her students; she was
22also a Parent Teacher Organization President for many years;

2    WHEREAS, Cheryl Waak is a deeply spiritual woman and is
3heavily involved with Bethesda Covenant Church, where she sits
4on the Women's Leadership team; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Cheryl Waak met her husband, Charles "Chuck" Waak,
6at a school dance in 1963 and began dating in 1964; Chuck and
7Cheryl were married by her father on November 18, 1967; the
8couple has been married for 48 years and together have three
9children, Jason, Robert, and Karyn, and eight grandchildren;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Cheryl Waak serves as a model of hard work,
12integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
13Illinois; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16congratulate Cheryl Waak on the occasion of her retirement and
17wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to Cheryl Waak as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
