HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are pleased to honor Mary M. "Margie" Mitchell for 50 years in public service; and

WHEREAS, Mary Mitchell first reported to work at the Greater Egypt Regional Planning and Development Commission on February 14, 1966, where she continues to work today; and

WHEREAS, The Greater Egypt Regional Planning and Development Commission is a unit of local government formed under the authority of State of Illinois statute in 1961 to "provide a plan for the general purpose of guiding and accomplishing a coordinated, adjusted, and harmonious development of the Franklin, Jackson, Perry, and Williamson County region, and of public improvement and utilities therein for the purpose of best promoting health, safety, morals, order, convenience, prosperity, efficiency and economy in the process of development and the general welfare of said region." In 1967, Jefferson County was added to the Greater Egypt Region, and the Commission was re-established as the Greater Egypt Regional Planning and Development Commission (Greater Egypt); and

WHEREAS, Through her 50 years of service Mary Mitchell has served in numerous capacities from Typist to Program Director; each role has allowed her to participate in the betterment of the five counties served by Greater Egypt, and over the course of five decades, her commitment to her role in the development of the Greater Egypt Region has never faded; and

WHEREAS, Mary Mitchell's service to the region has assisted in the completion of many important projects, including comprehensive plans, water quality, and economic development plans, creation of industrial parks, and the establishment and administration of Enterprise Zones; these projects have resulted in millions of dollars in investment and thousands of jobs being created and retained; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Mary M. "Margie" Mitchell for her service to the five counties of Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Perry, and Williamson Counties, which comprise the Greater Egypt Regional Planning and Development Commission's District; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mary Mitchell as an expression of our esteem and respect.
