HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On this 28th day of April, 2016, the members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary on the occasion of the organization's 50th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary was established in 1966 to provide financial support needed to continue the healing ministry of Jesus Christ; and

WHEREAS, The Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary helps to generate funds through the gift shop and the Bargain Box thrift shop, as well as through various fund raising projects throughout the year; the funds that are raised assist the Auxiliary in its purchase of needed equipment for the hospital and provides educational scholarships for individuals going into health care professions; and

WHEREAS, The Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary enriches the community and supports the healing mission and values of SSM Health by creating opportunities for people to experience the joy of serving others while ensuring an exceptional experience for those who serve; and

WHEREAS, Through a variety of volunteer opportunities, including customer service and hospitality, administrative duties, assisting nursing staff, pastoral care visits, and working in non-clinical support areas, the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary contributes goodwill and support to the community at large in a major way; and

WHEREAS, The Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary's volunteers are an essential part of the team and are committed to providing exceptional service to the patients, visitors, and staff of SSM Health; the Auxiliary has 115 volunteers who worked 18,807 hours in 2015 in support of the mission of Good Samaritan Hospital; and

WHEREAS, The President of SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital is Michael Warren; the President of the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary is Jane Byars; the First Vice President of the Auxiliary is Linda Hoffman; the Second Vice President of the Auxiliary is Earl Spohr; the Secretary of the Auxiliary is Mary Green; the Treasurer of the Auxiliary is Don Wood; and the Members-at-Large of the Auxiliary are Zella Fitts, Nancy Germann, Mary Lang, and Cleo Holt; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary on the occasion of the organization's 50th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
