HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Rick Burnidge on the
4occasion of his retirement as Highway Commissioner of Elgin
5Township after 33 years of service; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rick Burnidge's father, Logan Burnidge, served as
7the Elgin Township Highway Commissioner for 32 years, and his
8grandfather, Charles Burnidge, served as the Highway
9Commissioner for 42 years before him, making a total of 107
10years of service to the residents of Elgin Township for the
11Burnidge family; and
 
12    WHEREAS, As Highway Commissioner, Rick Burnidge was
13instrumental in the creation of numerous projects that have
14benefited the residents of Elgin Township, including the
15replacement of five bridges, the paving of over 100 miles of
16township roads, and the creation of a residential limb and
17brush pick-up/chipping program when burning was banned that has
18returned hundreds of truckloads of wood chips to residents to
19use as mulch, which has helped the residents of the township
20and the environment; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Rick Burnidge is a former Vice-President of the
22Kane County Highway Commissioners Association; he was a

1Republican precinct committeeman for 40 years; he is a former
2Vice Chairman of the Kane County Republican Central Committee
3and a former Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Elgin Township
4Republican Central Committee; he also served with distinction
5as a member of the Illinois General Assembly from 1978 to 1980;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Rick Burnidge serves as a model of hard work,
8integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
9Illinois; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12congratulate Rick Burnidge on the occasion of his retirement
13and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and
14be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Rick Burnidge as a symbol of our esteem and
17respect.
