HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Morton High
4School Lady Potters Girls Basketball team on its remarkable
52015-2016 season, finishing with a record of 33 wins and 3
6losses and winning the Illinois High School Association Class
73A State Championship; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Lady Potters had a successful season with
9several impressive highlights, including a win at the Morton
10Thanksgiving Tournament and the Mid-Illini Conference; and
 
11    WHEREAS, This year's victory at the Galesburg Winter
12Classic marks the sixth consecutive championship at the
13tournament for the Lady Potters; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The 2015-2016 Lady Potters tied a school record of
1533 wins and were the IHSA Bloomington Regional Champions, the
16IHSA Galesburg Sectional Champions, and the IHSA Bureau Valley
17Super Sectional Champions; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The Lady Potters have now won back-to-back State
19Titles, finishing this season with two noteworthy wins against
20Chicago Morgan Park in the Final Four with a score of 54-39 and
21against Chicago North Lawndale in the Class 3A State

1Championship game with a score of 58-41; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The Lady Potters finished off the season with
3their second consecutive IHSA Class 3A State Championship; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Bob Becker has been the head coach of the Lady
5Potters for 17 years and has a 381-142 record; the assistant
6coaches are Megan Hasler, Bill Davis, and Brooke Bisping and
7the team manager is Sean Patterson; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Lady Potters include seniors Chandler Ryan,
9Kayla McCormick, Baylee Fogal, and Jadison Wharram; juniors
10Brandi Bisping and Jacey Wharram; sophomores Josi Becker,
11Kassidy Shurman, Jena Liddle, Crystal Cobler, and Caylie Jones;
12and freshman Tenley Dowell and Bridget Wood; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The Morton High School Lady Potters serve as
14models for success, setting team records and showing their
15strong moral character; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18congratulate the Morton High School Lady Potters Girls
19Basketball team on its successful 2015-2016 season and State
20Championship and wish them great success in the future; and be
21it further
