1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Xavier Bishop for
4 breaking 2 Springfield City Basketball Tournament records; and

5     WHEREAS, Xavier Bishop is a senior point guard for Lanphier
6 High School; and

7     WHEREAS, Xavier Bishop scored 50 points in an individual
8 game to break the previous 50-year record of 39 points; and

9     WHEREAS, Xavier Bishop scored 102 points during the
10 tournament to break the previous record of 98 points, which
11 stood for 49 years; and

12     WHEREAS, As a student athlete, Xavier Bishop is a member of
13 the National Honor Society and a mentor to elementary and
14 middle school basketball players; and

15     WHEREAS, Xavier Bishop is known among Springfield-area
16 players and coaches for his personality and motivation; and

17     WHEREAS, Xavier Bishop has a bright future ahead of him and
18 is being recruited by several colleges and universities;
19 therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 congratulate Xavier Bishop for breaking 2 Springfield City
4 Tournament records and we wish him many more years of success;
5 and be it further

6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Xavier Bishop as a symbol of our esteem and
8 respect.
