HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Olivia
4Kresach, who passed away on April 19, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Olivia Kresach was born on May 17, 1991; she was
6the daughter of Dan and Meg Kresach; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Olivia Kresach graduated from Lincoln-Way East
8High School in 2009; she was a lifelong dancer and a member of
9Willow Street Dance Company in Mokena; she was also a diver and
10an avid downhill skier in high school; and
 
11    WHEREAS, While at the University of Illinois at Chicago,
12Olivia Kresach took up yoga and became an instructor; she was
13also studying to become a registered dietician when she was
14diagnosed with glioblastoma, a highly aggressive and malignant
15type of brain tumor that ultimately took her life; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Olivia Kresach is missed by all who knew her; she
17had a contagious laugh and was always seen smiling; and
 
18    WHEREAS, After Olivia Kresach passed away on April 19,
192014, her parents, Dan and Meg, dedicated their lives to
20defeating not only glioblastoma, the killer disease that took

1their daughter and only child, but all kinds of brain cancer;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dan and Meg have joined forces with the newly
4formed organization Brain Up, an organization dedicated solely
5to seeking cures for the toughest types of brain cancer; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dan, Meg, and the Brain Up organization are
7working together to advance scientific research, increase
8awareness within the medical community, and support the
9patients, families, and caregivers affected by this
10devastating disease; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The members of this body commend the State of
12Louisiana for the passage of House Concurrent Resolution 38,
13which established May 9 as Louisiana Gray Day to further
14progress brain cancer awareness; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of
18Olivia Kresach; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That, in recognition of the work of Brain Up and
20the continued need to recognize and bring awareness to brain
21cancer, we designate May 17, 2016 as Gray Day in the State of

1Illinois; and be it further
 
2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3delivered to the family of Olivia Kresach as an expression of
4our sympathy.
