SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
755 ILCS 5/27-10 new

    Amends the Probate Act of 1975. Provides that if a deceased person has received or may have received Medicaid assistance or assistance for the aged, blind, or persons with disabilities under the Public Aid Code, or was the surviving spouse of a person who received that assistance, the representative of the decedent's estate, or if there is no representative of the estate, the beneficiary, the personal representative, or the person in possession of property of the decedent shall give the Director of the Department of Healthcare and Family Services notice of the decedent's death not later than 90 days after the date of death. Provides that the notice shall include a copy of the decedent's death certificate and be addressed to the Director at the Chicago office of the Department of Healthcare and Family Services.

1    AN ACT concerning civil law.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Probate Act of 1975 is amended by adding
5Section 27-10 as follows:
 
6    (755 ILCS 5/27-10 new)
7    Sec. 27-10. Notice to Director of Healthcare and Family
8Services. If a deceased person has received or may have
9received assistance under Article III or Article V of the
10Public Aid Code, or was the surviving spouse of a person who
11received that assistance, the representative of the decedent's
12estate, or if there is no representative of the estate, the
13beneficiary, the personal representative, or the person in
14possession of property of the decedent shall give the Director
15of the Department of Healthcare and Family Services notice of
16the decedent's death not later than 90 days after the date of
17death. The notice shall include a copy of the decedent's death
18certificate. The notice shall be addressed to the Director at
19the Chicago office of the Department of Healthcare and Family
20Services.
