SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 302/30 new
110 ILCS 205/13 new

    Amends the College and Career Success for All Students Act. Provides that a student who takes a College Board Advanced Placement examination and receives a score of 3 or higher on the examination is entitled to receive postsecondary level course credit at a public university. Requires each public university to comply with the same standard of awarding course credit to any student receiving a score of 4 or higher on a College Board Advanced Placement examination and applying the credit to meet a corresponding course requirement for degree completion for a particular major at that public university. Amends the Board of Higher Education Act. Provides that the Board of Higher Education shall work with each public university on implementing and communicating the public university's policy for awarding advanced placement credits.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The College and Career Success for All Students
5Act is amended by adding Section 30 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 302/30 new)
7    Sec. 30. Examination; postsecondary level course credit.
8In this Section,
9    (a) "Public university" means a State university located in
10this State.
11    (b) A student who takes a College Board Advanced Placement
12examination and receives a score of 3 or higher on the
13examination is entitled to receive postsecondary level course
14credit at a public university, if elective credit is part of
15the student's degree requirement.
16    (c) Each public university shall comply with the same
17standard of awarding course credit to any student receiving a
18score of 4 or higher on a College Board Advanced Placement
19examination and applying the credit to meet a corresponding
20course requirement for degree completion for a particular major
21at that public university.
 
22    Section 10. The Board of Higher Education Act is amended by

1adding Section 13 as follows:
 
2    (110 ILCS 205/13 new)
