    Amends various Acts relating to the governance of public universities in Illinois and the Public Community College Act. Requires a university or community college to waive its fee for the receipt or transmission of a transcript for each veteran, member of the Armed Forces of the United States, member of the Reserve components thereof, or member of the Illinois National Guard who resides in this State and has been admitted to the institution. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5adding Section 90 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 305/90 new)
7    Sec. 90. Waiver of transcript fee. The University shall
8waive its fee for the receipt or transmission of a transcript
9for each veteran, member of the Armed Forces of the United
10States, member of the Reserve components thereof, or member of
11the Illinois National Guard who resides in this State and has
12been admitted to the University.
 
13    Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management
14Act is amended by adding Section 75 as follows:
 
15    (110 ILCS 520/75 new)
16    Sec. 75. Waiver of transcript fee. The University shall
17waive its fee for the receipt or transmission of a transcript
18for each veteran, member of the Armed Forces of the United
19States, member of the Reserve components thereof, or member of
20the Illinois National Guard who resides in this State and has
21been admitted to the University.

1    Section 15. The Chicago State University Law is amended by
2adding Section 5-185 as follows:
 
3    (110 ILCS 660/5-185 new)
4    Sec. 5-185. Waiver of transcript fee. The University shall
5waive its fee for the receipt or transmission of a transcript
6for each veteran, member of the Armed Forces of the United
7States, member of the Reserve components thereof, or member of
8the Illinois National Guard who resides in this State and has
9been admitted to the University.
 
10    Section 20. The Eastern Illinois University Law is amended
11by adding Section 10-185 as follows:
 
12    (110 ILCS 665/10-185 new)
13    Sec. 10-185. Waiver of transcript fee. The University shall
14waive its fee for the receipt or transmission of a transcript
15for each veteran, member of the Armed Forces of the United
16States, member of the Reserve components thereof, or member of
17the Illinois National Guard who resides in this State and has
18been admitted to the University.
 
19    Section 25. The Governors State University Law is amended

3waive its fee for the receipt or transmission of a transcript
4for each veteran, member of the Armed Forces of the United

7been admitted to the University.
 
8    Section 30. The Illinois State University Law is amended by
9adding Section 20-190 as follows:

11    Sec. 20-190. Waiver of transcript fee. The University shall
12waive its fee for the receipt or transmission of a transcript
13for each veteran, member of the Armed Forces of the United
14States, member of the Reserve components thereof, or member of
15the Illinois National Guard who resides in this State and has
16been admitted to the University.
 
17    Section 35. The Northeastern Illinois University Law is
18amended by adding Section 25-185 as follows:

20    Sec. 25-185. Waiver of transcript fee. The University shall
21waive its fee for the receipt or transmission of a transcript

4    Section 40. The Northern Illinois University Law is amended
5by adding Section 30-195 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 685/30-195 new)
7    Sec. 30-195. Waiver of transcript fee. The University shall
8waive its fee for the receipt or transmission of a transcript
9for each veteran, member of the Armed Forces of the United
10States, member of the Reserve components thereof, or member of
11the Illinois National Guard who resides in this State and has
12been admitted to the University.
 
13    Section 45. The Western Illinois University Law is amended
14by adding Section 35-190 as follows:
 
15    (110 ILCS 690/35-190 new)
16    Sec. 35-190. Waiver of transcript fee. The University shall
17waive its fee for the receipt or transmission of a transcript
18for each veteran, member of the Armed Forces of the United
19States, member of the Reserve components thereof, or member of
20the Illinois National Guard who resides in this State and has
21been admitted to the University.

1    Section 50. The Public Community College Act is amended by
2adding Section 3-29.11 as follows:
 
3    (110 ILCS 805/3-29.11 new)
4    Sec. 3-29.11. Waiver of transcript fee. A community college
5shall waive its fee for the receipt or transmission of a
6transcript for each veteran, member of the Armed Forces of the
7United States, member of the Reserve components thereof, or
8member of the Illinois National Guard who resides in this State
9and has been admitted to the community college.
 
10    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
11becoming law.
