SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
110 ILCS 805/3-65 new

    Amends the Public Community College Act. Provides that no State moneys from any State funds, proceeds of property tax levies, or student tuition funds may be used to pay for a severance agreement entered into by a board with an employee of the community college district. A board that pays a severance amount to a district employee greater than the sum of one year's salary and benefits for that employee is prohibited from increasing the district's property tax levy, tuition, or fees for a number of years as calculated as follows: the result, rounded up to the next whole number, of the total severance amount paid to the employee divided by the sum of one year's salary and benefits for that employee. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Public Community College Act is amended by
5adding Section 3-65 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 805/3-65 new)
7    Sec. 3-65. Severance agreement limitations. No State
8moneys from any State funds, proceeds of property tax levies,
9or student tuition funds may be used to pay for a severance
10agreement entered into by a board with an employee of the
11community college district. A board that pays a severance
12amount to a district employee greater than the sum of one
13year's salary and benefits for that employee is prohibited from
14increasing the district's property tax levy, tuition, or fees
15for a number of years as calculated as follows: the result,
16rounded up to the next whole number, of the total severance
17amount paid to the employee divided by the sum of one year's
18salary and benefits for that employee.
 
19    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
