SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
725 ILCS 5/103-2  from Ch. 38, par. 103-2

    Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963. In provision regarding medical treatment for persons in custody, requires any required medical treatment to be provided without unreasonable delay if the need for the treatment is apparent.

1    AN ACT concerning criminal law.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 is
5amended by changing Section 103-2 as follows:
 
6    (725 ILCS 5/103-2)  (from Ch. 38, par. 103-2)
7    Sec. 103-2. Treatment while in custody.
8    (a) On being taken into custody every person shall have the
9right to remain silent.
10    (b) No unlawful means of any kind shall be used to obtain a
11statement, admission or confession from any person in custody.
12    (c) Persons in custody shall be treated humanely and
13provided with proper food, shelter and, if required, medical
14treatment without unreasonable delay if the need for the
15treatment is apparent.
