SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

105 ILCS 5/24-6.5 new

Amends the School Code. Prohibits a school board from entering into or extending a collective bargaining agreement or other employment contract on or after the effective date of the amendatory Act under which employees are paid for unused vacation time or sick leave for which pension credit may be granted under the Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 24-6.5 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/24-6.5 new)

Sec. 24-6.5. Unused vacation time or sick leave; prohibition. A school board may not enter into or extend a collective bargaining agreement or other employment contract on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 99th General Assembly under which employees are paid for unused vacation time or sick leave for which pension credit may be granted under the Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
