SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frederick A. Wuellner, who passed away on November 19, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Wuellner was born on July 16, 1923, in Alton; he was the son of Andrew J. and Emma (Leib) Wuellner; he married Betty J. Purcell on December 30, 1947, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Wuellner served in the United States Army during World War II; he fought in the invasion of Normandy at Utah Beach and served in North Africa and Italy; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Wuellner attended the University of Cincinnati and Washington University; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Wuellner served as the President of J.J. Wuellner and Son Construction Company; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Wuellner was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey; he was also a member of the VFW Post 1308, the past president of Southern Illinois Builders Association, past president of Riverbend Growth Association, a member of the board of directors of Home Savings and Loan, and a longtime member and board member of Lockhaven Country Club; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Wuellner was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eugene Wuellner; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Wuellner is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughters, Patricia Smith (the late A.J. Smith), Sue (John) Wuellner-Derr, and Christine Wuellner; his sons, August (Maura) Wuellner, Edward (Jennifer) Wuellner, and Michael (Tami) Wuellner; his sister, Lois Wuellner; his brothers, Donald (Vera) Wuellner and Thomas (Jane) Wuellner; his grandchildren, Julie (Kent) Sauvage, Matthew (Jennifer) Smith, Leigh and Mitch Wuellner, Sean (Liz) Holloway, Andrew, Alexandra, and Hayley Clark, Nathan and Hannah Wuellner, and Joseph and Taylor Wuellner; and his great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Jacob Sauvage and Wil and Jenna Holloway; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Frederick A. Wuellner; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frederick Wuellner as an expression of our sympathy.
