SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Deborah Lynn Millner of Carol Stream; she
4was the beloved wife of Illinois State Senator John Millner;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, She and Senator Millner met when then Officer
7Millner escorted a suspect to the hospital where she worked as
8an X-ray technician; they spent many years covering much of the
9continental United States and Canada in a Corvette and a tent;
10they married on Three Kings Day, January 6, 1978, in St. Thomas
11in the U.S. Virgin Islands; and
 
12    WHEREAS, For the next 34 years Debbie stood next to her
13John for all the best and worse life had to offer, making a
14loving and nurturing home; and
 
15    WHEREAS, She was a loving mother, teaching her children to
16enjoy crafts, reading, and educational trips; she pushed both
17her kids to always take every opportunity to better themselves;
18she was an excited grandmother, thrilled with the birth of
19their first grandchild; she shared a special bond with him that
20was rare; she was able to enjoy the first photos of her second
21grandchild before her passing; and

1    WHEREAS, She was a much loved big sister who enjoyed making
2her sisters laugh; she enjoyed playing tricks on them; she also
3hooked her sisters on crafts and brought home many stray
4animals over her childhood days; and
 
5    WHEREAS, As with her immediate family, Debbie pushed her
6friends and extended family members to be better people; her
7engaging laugh and never ending reach to those who needed her
8made Debbie special to all around her; and
 
9    WHEREAS, She was a dedicated and loving educator, teaching
10seventh grade science at Stratford Middle School in
11Bloomingdale; she is remembered for pushing her students to be
12the best they could be; she had a passion to create an
13environment for children to crave learning which encouraged
14them to make the necessary connections to put that learning
15into practice; and
 
16    WHEREAS, She was a passionate advocate for access to clean
17water and food for everyone; her mission in life was to do her
18part, whenever she could, to make a positive difference in the
19lives of others; and
 
20    WHEREAS, She was the loving wife of Illinois State Senator
21John Millner; she was the loving mother of Laurie Salameh and
22John J. Millner, Jr.; she was the mother-in-law of Estephan

1Salameh; she was the proud grandmother of Luca and Sabrina; and
2she was the dear sister of Dawn (Ben) Scott, Laurie (David)
3Jones, and Lisa (Matt) Waterman; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
6her family and friends, the passing of Deborah Millner; and be
7it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Deborah Millner as a symbol of our
10sincere sympathy.
