SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Allan Morris Pickus, formerly of Waukegan, who passed away on August 16, 2011; and

WHEREAS, He was a University of Illinois graduate in architecture and co-owner of Pickus Construction and Equipment Company from 1963 until his retirement in 1996; and

WHEREAS, He was active in the local construction industry, serving as President of the Lake County Contractors Association, Chairman of the Mid-America Regional Bargaining Association, Chairman of the Waukegan Zoning Board, and President of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, In retirement, he and his wife were very passionate about their volunteer work at the Chicago Botanic Garden and The Living Desert of Palm Desert, California; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Louie; his mother, Lillian; and his brother, Edward; and

WHEREAS, Allan Pickus is survived by his wife, Meline; his children, Jeffry, James, Joel, and Louis (Sara); his brother, Nathan (Jane); his sister, Tamara (Marc); and his grandchildren, Jordan, Max, Sam, Danielle, Madeleine, Rachel, Wynne, Jack, Charlie, Honor, and Henry; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Allan Pickus; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Allan Pickus as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
