HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Forest Park Mayor Anthony Calderone on being named the recipient of the Donald E. Stephens Award; and

WHEREAS, The Donald E. Stephens Award honors the late Rosemont Mayor Donald E. Stephens and is awarded to an individual who has shown great vision and leadership while serving as a local government official; and

WHEREAS, "Mayor Calderone epitomizes the notions of leadership and commitment. We are all better public servants for having had Anthony Calderone touch our lives." Richard F. Pellegrino; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Calderone has served Forest Park as its Mayor since 1999; he was first elected as Forest Park Commissioner in 1991 after having served as a Fire and Police Commissioner and volunteering 14 years as an Auxiliary Police Officer; and

WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Forest Park, Mayor Calderone has a long track record of public service and a commitment to the Village of Forest Park, its residents, businesses, and organizations; among the many organizations to which he has given service are: St. Bernardine Parish, Forest Park Little League, West Suburban Senior Services (formerly Proviso Council on Aging), Proviso Municipal League, West Central Municipal Conference (past President), Oak Leyden Developmental Services, Kiwanis International, Columbian Club, and the Lions Club; he is also a Freemason and the former Lieutenant Governor of Division #6, Kiwanis International; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Calderone has served over 30 years in the alarm and security industry and owns and operates Illinois Alarm Service in Forest Park; he has held a variety of posts with these professional organizations: the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association, the Illinois Electronic Security Association, the Illinois Fire Inspectors Association, the American Society of Industrial Security, the Alarm Industry Research and Education Foundation, and the Electronic Security Association; and

WHEREAS, As Mayor, Anthony Calderone has overseen the renaissance of Forest Park, including the downtown district along Madison Street; Forest Park received the coveted Governor's Home Town Award plus numerous Illinois Main Street Awards; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Calderone's public service achievements have been recognized by such organizations as the Department of the Army, the United Way, Miserecordia, the Save a Life Foundation, Illinois Order Sons of Italy, the Illinois Crime Commission, the Triton College Foundation, the Italian American Executives of Transportation, and Seguin Services Inc.; and

WHEREAS, He is married to Lois; they have 2 adult children, Augustino and Anthony Jr. (Sarah Beth); therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mayor Anthony Calderone on receiving the Stephens Award and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mayor Anthony Calderone as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
