HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor our esteemed colleague, State Representative Eddie Winters, for his service as a member of the Illinois General Assembly and thank him for his dedicated service to the people of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Representative Winters has served as a Chicago police officer for more than 18 years, following in the footsteps of his correctional officer father; as a police officer, Representative Winters proudly protected and served the community while working with its many residents; and

WHEREAS, Representative Winters attended Victor Herbert Grammar School and St. Malachy Grammar School; he attended Wright Community College before transferring to Roosevelt University where he received his bachelor's degree; and

WHEREAS, Representative Winters helped found a community organization called HOW-Homeowners of West-Town to help care for the area; he is an involved member of the PTA at Herbert Grammar School, an active volunteer at the Salvation Army, and a strong advocate for the James Jordan Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Representative Winters has listened to constituents' concerns and fought to improve public safety, education, and housing for the people he proudly serves; and

WHEREAS, Representative Winters has been a vocal leader for the 10th District; in his short time in office, he has worked diligently to bring attention to the needs of the west side of Chicago; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank State Representative Eddie Winters for his service to the people of Illinois and wish him much success in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to State Representative Eddie Winters as an expression of our respect and esteem.
