SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
35 ILCS 200/3-70 new
35 ILCS 200/6-65 new

    Amends the Property Tax Code. Provides that the Cook County Board of Review and the Cook County Assessor must each post on their websites certain information concerning assessment appeals and law firms representing property owners. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning revenue.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Property Tax Code is amended by adding
5Sections 3-70 and 6-65 as follows:
 
6    (35 ILCS 200/3-70 new)
7    Sec. 3-70. Cook County Assessor's website; appeals. The
8Cook County Assessor shall post the following information on
9its Internet website:
10        (1) the total number of appeals filed with the Cook
11    County Assessor;
12        (2) the number of appeals filed with the Cook County
13    Assessor that received an assessment reduction, including
14    the complaint number for each of those appeals;
15        (3) the total number of pro se appeals filed with the
16    Cook County Assessor;
17        (4) the number of pro se appeals filed with the Cook
18    County Assessor that received an assessment reduction,
19    including the complaint number for each of those appeals;
20        (5) the average property tax savings for individual,
21    pro se property owners who were successful in their
22    assessment appeals; and
23        (6) a list of attorneys, individuals, and law firms

1    representing property owners in assessment appeals,
2    including the number of appeals filed by each attorney,
3    individual, or law firm and the percentage of those appeals
4    that received an assessment reduction.
5    This information shall be updated within 60 days after the
6close of each township filing period, as established by the
7Assessor.
 
8    (35 ILCS 200/6-65 new)
9    Sec. 6-65. Cook County Board of Review website; appeals.
10The Cook County Board of Review shall post the following
11information on its Internet website:
12        (1) the total number of appeals filed with the Board of
13    Review;
14        (2) the number of appeals filed with the Board of
15    Review that received an assessment reduction, including
16    the complaint number for each of those appeals;
17        (3) the total number of pro se appeals filed with the
18    Board of Review;
19        (4) the number of pro se appeals filed with the Board
20    of Review that received an assessment reduction, including
21    the complaint number for each of those appeals;
22        (5) the average property tax savings for individual,
23    pro se property owners who were successful in their
24    assessment appeals; and
25        (6) a list of attorneys, individuals, and law firms

9becoming law.
