SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Anthony "Tony" Pinelli, who passed away on October 7, 2019 at the age of 71; and

WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was born on August 28, 1948 to Anthony and Louise (DeGeorge) Pinelli, one of seven children; and

WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was the devoted husband of Karen (Korderka) and father of Anthony J.; and

WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was a member of the Loyola Academy Class of 1966; he went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Loyola University Chicago and then his law degree from the Chicago-Kent College of Law at Illinois Institute of Technology; and

WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli began his legal career in 1973 as a Cook County Public Defender, working on misdemeanors, felonies, and death penalty cases; he then served as the in-house counsel to a large pension fund, where he focused on civil litigation before entering private practice; and

WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli opened the Law Offices of Anthony Pinelli; because of his forty plus years of experience and diverse legal background, he was able to listen to a client and achieve the desired outcome; he was able to represent a wide range of clients but focused on matters of labor and employment law, civil litigation, licensing agencies, government agencies, and criminal defense; and

WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was an adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law since 1981; he specialized in trial advocacy and appellate law; when he was not in the courtroom, you could likely find him in his classroom; he was an excellent teacher, and his students respected him for his reputation as a top Chicago trial lawyer; and

WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was the recipient of the highest Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent peer-review rating for legal excellence every year since 1986 in recognition of his professional achievements; he was named among the top attorneys in Illinois by Leading Lawyers; and

WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was beloved by all and a respected adviser to family, friends, and clients; his continued success was a result of his work ethic and was proof of his dedication; he was an excellent attorney, and his legacy as a top trial lawyer will endure; he will also be remembered for his advocacy; and

WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was a loyal friend, had a big heart, and was generous and kind; he was an incredible storyteller; he was dedicated to his family, and his humor and smile will be missed; and

WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Louise; and

WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli is survived by his wife, Karen; his son, Anthony J.; his siblings, Madeline Pinelli, Vincent (Sue) Pinelli, Mary Lou Kelley, Mary (Rod) Mellon, Richard Pinelli, Christina (Marvin) Baldwin, and Lawrence Pinelli; as well as many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Anthony Pinelli and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Anthony Pinelli as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
