SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raleigh J. Harris III of Pontiac, who passed away on March 25, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Raleigh Harris III was born in Pontiac to Raleigh J. and Betty Dolan Harris Jr. on November 9, 1943; he attended schools in Pontiac and the Roosevelt Military Academy in Aledo; he graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science and Funeral Service in Wheeling; he married Ramona Barickman in Streator on January 24, 1965; and

WHEREAS, Raleigh Harris III owned and operated the Raleigh J. Harris Funeral Home in Pontiac for several years; he also owned and operated the Stewart Funeral Home in Cullom and the Von Qualen-Harris Funeral Home in Dwight; and

WHEREAS, Raleigh Harris III was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pontiac, the Pontiac Elks Club, the Rustic Auto Club, the Central Illinois Woodworkers Club, and the "Gas House Gang"; and

WHEREAS, Raleigh Harris III was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter in infancy, Amy Harris; and

WHEREAS, Raleigh Harris III is survived by his wife; his son, Thomas (Ginger) Harris; his daughter, Kimberly (Greg) Yoder; his grandchildren, Gabrielle Henderson, Felicia Harris, Serena Harris, Nathan Yoder, and Tabitha Yoder; his step-granddaughter, Cortney Schilling; his seven great-grandchildren; and his three step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Raleigh J. Harris III and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Raleigh Harris III as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
