HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jacqueline "Jackie" Dominowski Kostrzewa, who passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her children on July 13, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Jackie Kostrzewa was a devoted and loving mother to John (Melissa) Kostrzewa, Jeanne (Michael) Morrelli, and Karen and Suzi (Randy) Kostrzewa; she was a caring grandmother to Courtney, Kristopher, Anthony, Jonathon, and Colette; she was a loving sister to the late Gale (Cheryl) Dominowski; and

WHEREAS, Jackie Kostrzewa was a dedicated and active resident of the North Mayfair community on Chicago's northwest side; she attended grammar school at Saint Edward's Catholic School; she was an iconic neighbor of Kolmar Avenue, the street on which she lived much of her life; additionally, she served on the North Mayfair Improvement Association Board as financial secretary and vice president; and

WHEREAS, Jackie Kostrzewa's love for Chicago extended beyond her home community; she engaged civically as an election judge for over 20 years and was politically active across the city; and

WHEREAS, For decades, Jackie Kostrzewa was involved in the 17th Police District CAPS Program, volunteering for a number of programs, including Hooked on Fishing and National Night Out; she cared deeply about the safety of the community, especially for children; she worked as a crossing guard for many years, helping children get to and from school safely; and

WHEREAS, On May 30, 2018, Jackie Kostrzewa was inducted into the 2018 Chicago Senior Citizen Hall of Fame for her longstanding dedication to and passion for the North Mayfair community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jacqueline "Jackie" Dominowski Kostrzewa and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jackie Kostrzewa as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
