HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to commend A.C. Buehler III for his exemplary service as a member of the Northbrook Board of Trustees and his many valuable contributions to his community; and

WHEREAS, A.C. Buehler was elected to the Northbrook Board of Trustees in April 1995 and has served the past 24 years; prior to his time on the board, he served on the Northbrook Plan Commission for seven years from 1988 to 1995 for a total of 31 years as a village official; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure, A.C. Buehler served as chair of the Housing and Human Services, Contracts and Franchises, and Public Safety Committees, as well as the Emergency Telephone Systems Board; he also served as a member of the Planning and Zoning Committee and served as co-chair of the Northwest Municipal Conference Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee; and

WHEREAS, During his 14 years as chairman of the Public Safety Committee, A.C. Buehler's expertise and background in fire safety was an asset to the community; having served as a paid-on-call firefighter, he provided input contributing to Northbrook passing a residential fire sprinkler ordinance requiring systems in all new single-family homes; he was also instrumental in promoting many amendments to the Northbrook Zoning Code, including a series of amendments to the residential bulk standards and refinements to the downtown zoning regulations; and

WHEREAS, A.C. Buehler shared his expertise by supporting technology improvements and innovations at the village and by providing guidance and expertise to the village's Information Technology Department; and

WHEREAS, A.C. Buehler is a graduate of Glenbrook North High School and has lived in Northbrook since 1959; he has been active in the community as a Boy Scout leader, avid cyclist, and member of the Men of Glenbrook North High School Choir and the Glenbrook North Alumni Band Group; and

WHEREAS, A.C. Buehler's service as a trustee highlights his ongoing commitment to the residents, students, and businesses of the Village of Northbrook; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend A.C. Buehler III for his exemplary service as a member of the Northbrook Board of Trustees and his many valuable contributions to his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to A.C. Buehler as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
