SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

110 ILCS 685/30-220 new
110 ILCS 690/35-215 new
    Amends various Acts relating to the governance of public universities. Requires the governing board of each public university to submit a report to the Board of Higher Education identifying the measures the university has adopted for meeting the needs of immigrant and refugee students seeking integration within a higher education setting.

1     AN ACT concerning education.

2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:

4     Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5 adding Section 120 as follows:

6     (110 ILCS 305/120 new)
7     Sec. 120. Immigrant and refugee student integration
8 report. The Board of Trustees shall submit a report to the
9 Board of Higher Education identifying the measures the
10 University has adopted for meeting the needs of immigrant and
11 refugee students seeking integration within a higher education
12 setting.

13     Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management
14 Act is amended by adding Section 100 as follows:

15     (110 ILCS 520/100 new)
16     Sec. 100. Immigrant and refugee student integration
17 report. The Board shall submit a report to the Board of Higher
18 Education identifying the measures the University has adopted
19 for meeting the needs of immigrant and refugee students seeking
20 integration within a higher education setting.

1     Section 15. The Chicago State University Law is amended by
2 adding Section 5-210 as follows:

3     (110 ILCS 660/5-210 new)
4     Sec. 5-210. Immigrant and refugee student integration
5 report. The Board shall submit a report to the Board of Higher
6 Education identifying the measures the University has adopted
7 for meeting the needs of immigrant and refugee students seeking
8 integration within a higher education setting.

9     Section 20. The Eastern Illinois University Law is amended
10 by adding Section 10-210 as follows:

11     (110 ILCS 665/10-210 new)
12     Sec. 10-210. Immigrant and refugee student integration
13 report. The Board shall submit a report to the Board of Higher
14 Education identifying the measures the University has adopted
15 for meeting the needs of immigrant and refugee students seeking
16 integration within a higher education setting.

17     Section 25. The Governors State University Law is amended
18 by adding Section 15-210 as follows:

21 report. The Board shall submit a report to the Board of Higher

4     Section 30. The Illinois State University Law is amended by
5 adding Section 20-215 as follows:

6     (110 ILCS 675/20-215 new)
7     Sec. 20-215. Immigrant and refugee student integration
8 report. The Board shall submit a report to the Board of Higher
9 Education identifying the measures the University has adopted
10 for meeting the needs of immigrant and refugee students seeking
11 integration within a higher education setting.

12     Section 35. The Northeastern Illinois University Law is
13 amended by adding Section 25-210 as follows:

15     Sec. 25-210. Immigrant and refugee student integration
16 report. The Board shall submit a report to the Board of Higher
17 Education identifying the measures the University has adopted
18 for meeting the needs of immigrant and refugee students seeking
19 integration within a higher education setting.

20     Section 40. The Northern Illinois University Law is amended
21 by adding Section 30-220 as follows:

2     Sec. 30-220. Immigrant and refugee student integration
3 report. The Board shall submit a report to the Board of Higher
4 Education identifying the measures the University has adopted
5 for meeting the needs of immigrant and refugee students seeking
6 integration within a higher education setting.

7     Section 45. The Western Illinois University Law is amended
8 by adding Section 35-215 as follows:

9     (110 ILCS 690/35-215 new)
10     Sec. 35-215. Immigrant and refugee student integration
11 report. The Board shall submit a report to the Board of Higher
12 Education identifying the measures the University has adopted
13 for meeting the needs of immigrant and refugee students seeking
14 integration within a higher education setting.
