SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Keith Ovid Tate of Chicago, who passed away on December 17, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Keith Tate was born in Chicago to Elwin L. Tate and Ola M. Dixon on April 14, 1949; he moved with his family to the Chatham Neighborhood in 1955; he graduated from St. Dorothy School and Hales Franciscan High School; he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and Administration with a concentration in accounting from Chicago State University; and

WHEREAS, Keith Tate spent his career working for multiple hospitals and healthcare groups; he worked at the University of Illinois Medical Center for over 25 years before his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Keith Tate was actively involved in the betterment of his community; he served as President of the Chatham-Avalon Community Council for many years; he also served as President of the Hales Franciscan Alumni Association and embodied the school motto, "Unto Perfect Manhood"; he was committed to his wife, his children, his family, and his friends; and

WHEREAS, Keith Tate was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 40 years, Shirley A. Brown-Tate; and

WHEREAS, Keith Tate is survived by his sons, Marcus Tate and Rawling (Gelene) Brown; his brother, Randall (Deborah) Tate; his sister, Valiere (Robert) Tate-Harris; his grandchildren, Justin Brown and Grace Brown; his nieces, Verna (Marie) Turner, Kristen Tate, and Brooke Gastile; his nephews, Brandon (Laurice) Jones and William Samuels III; his great-niece, Betty (Kevin Richards) McCants; and his many other family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Keith Ovid Tate and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Keith Tate as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
