SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John J. Walkup, formerly of Waukegan, who
4passed away on November 5, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Walkup was born to William Marvin and Mary
6Effie (Wells) Walkup on October 6, 1923; he served in the U.S.
7Army and retired after 20 years of service; he married Phyllis
8White in Peoria Heights on July 28, 1944; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Walkup enjoyed metal detecting, tinkering
10around his house, repairing bicycles, antiquing, recycling,
11and being a handyman; he remodeled much of his home himself; he
12was a longtime member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in
13Waukegan; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Walkup was preceded in death by his wife,
15Phyllis; his parents; his siblings, Estel, James, William,
16Ralph, Grover, Francis, Marvin, Virginia, and Wilma; and an
17infant son, Gregory Keith Walkup; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Walkup is survived by his children, Jan
19(Cindy) Walkup, Janine (Bill) Lopez, and Julia (Clarence)
20Hagan; his sister, Betty Dirks; 16 grandchildren; and 13
21great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3John J. Walkup and extend our sincere condolences to his
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of John Walkup as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
