SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Stephen F. "Steve" Corrao of Joliet, who
4passed away on October 14, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Steve Corrao was born in Salem, Massachusetts to
6Andrew and Katherine (Kucker) Corrao on December 13, 1941; he
7received his bachelor's degree from the University of Tampa;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Steve Corrao dedicated his career to being an
10advocate for disadvantaged youth; he served as the Executive
11Director of the George Werden Buck Boys and Girls Club for over
1240 years; he served as president of Agencies United and on the
13United Way of Will County Board of Directors; he was the
14co-founder and the first president of the Greater Joliet
15Alliance for Youth; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Steve Corrao was the recipient of the Lewis
17University/Zorich Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003; in May of
182010, he was awarded an Outstanding Image Award in the area of
19Youth Services by Branch #3018 of the Joliet NAACP; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Steve Corrao was a certified official in three
21Illinois High School Association sports, football, basketball,

1and baseball; he officiated at many sporting events in Joliet
2and throughout the State of Illinois; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Steve Corrao was preceded in death by his parents;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Steve Corrao is survived by his wife of 35 years,
6Lynne (Erath) Corrao; his children, Kristen (Patrick)
7Thelander, Brant Connelly, and Ryan Connelly; and his
8grandchildren, Alexis, Quinn, and Campbell Connelly and
9Eleanor and Benjamin Thelander; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Stephen F. "Steve" Corrao and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Steve Corrao as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
