SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Nancy J. Monroe of Morton, who passed
4away on November 22, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nancy Monroe was born in Cadott, Wisconsin to
6Floyd and Bernice Hanson on October 10, 1939; her family moved
7to San Jose when she was very young, and, when not in school,
8she worked for her father at Hanson's Dairy; at San Jose High
9School, she was named Junior-Senior prom queen, wrote for the
10school paper, performed in plays, was a cheerleader, and served
11as majorette; she was an accomplished baton twirler, competed
12in regional and national contests, and taught the skill to
13young girls; after high school, she attended Patricia Stevens
14Modeling School in Chicago and then Brown's Business School in
15Peoria; she married Roger Monroe on May 22, 1960; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Following graduation, Nancy Monroe worked for the
17Peoria Convention and Visitors Bureau; while raising her
18children, she worked for District 150 as a library manager; she
19also served as the purchasing secretary at Methodist Hospital
20and as the associate secretary at First United Methodist
21Church, where she also helped start the Fine Arts Festival; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Nancy Monroe volunteered in the Pediatric

1Department at Methodist Hospital, taught Sunday school, served
2on the board of the Wardcliffe Homeowners Association, modeled,
3participated as a PTO member at Sterling School, coordinated an
4annual fundraiser for the Peoria Christian Center summer
5basketball program, and worked as a poll watcher; she was a
6member of the International Order of King's Daughters and Sons;
7she loved to travel; one of her greatest joys was welcoming her
8grandsons into the world, and she was thrilled when asked to
9babysit; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Nancy Monroe was preceded in death by her parents
11and her sister, Rosemary Murray; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Nancy Monroe is survived by her husband of 58
13years, Roger; her sons, Dan (Julie) Monroe and Zack S. (Missy)
14Monroe; her grandsons, Kyle, Christopher, and Scott Monroe; and
15her sister, Marlene Blane; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Nancy J. Monroe and extend our sincere condolences to her
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Nancy Monroe as an expression of our
