SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ronald L. "Sam" Maedge, who passed away
4on November 5, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sam Maedge was born in Livingston to Mr. and Mrs.
6Louis Maedge on April 1, 1941; he served in the U.S. Navy and
7married Shirley Luttman, but they later divorced; he married
8Diana Ruth Ray on February 28, 1973, and she later passed away;
9he married Vicki Umberger in Staunton on October 26, 2006; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Sam Maedge served as the Staunton Township
11Commissioner for many years; he was also a custodian at
12Staunton Unit Schools for many years; he was a past Staunton
13Police Officer and past member of the Staunton Volunteer Fire
14Department; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Sam Maedge was a member of the Net Community
16Church of Staunton, Staunton VFW Post #1241, and the Township
17Officials of Illinois; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Sam Maedge was preceded in death by his parents;
19his wife, Diana; his brothers, Joe and Bob Maedge; his sisters,
20Evelyn, Annabelle, and Wanda; his father-in-law and
21mother-in-law, Blaine and Ruth Ray; and his brothers-in-law and

1sisters-in-law, Joe Ray, Linden Ray, Glenn Ray, and Mike
2Bellmon; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Sam Maedge is survived by his wife, Vicki Maedge;
4his sons, Tim Smiddy, Ron (Amy) Maedge Jr., and Mike (Becky)
5Maedge; his stepchildren, Debra (Tom) Gonet, Tami (Randy) Fox,
6and Kenny (Kim) Carlock; his grandchildren, Landon Maedge,
7Kinslee Maedge, Briar Maedge, Craig Gonet, Nikki Gonet, Dallas
8Blose, Terin Leigh, Josh Leigh, Kaylee Carlock, and Kinzley
9Carlock; nine great-grandchildren; his brothers, Wally
10(Marlene) and Bill (Alice) Maedge; his brothers-in-law and
11sisters-in-law, Danny and Shirley Ray, Peggy Bellmon, Kathy
12Ray, George Wolbert, Helen Maedge, and Dick and Sherrill
13Umberger; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Ronald L. "Sam" Maedge and extend our sincere condolences to
17his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Sam Maedge as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
