SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kenneth Carter "Ken" Gutman, formerly of
4Waukegan, who passed away on September 13, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken Gutman was born in Memphis, Missouri to David
6and Hazel (Carter) Gutman on May 30, 1921; he was raised on a
7small farm and graduated high school in 1939; he joined the
8United States Navy and served during World War II; he was
9stationed in both the European and Asia-Pacific theaters; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Following the war, Ken Gutman joined Abbott
11Laboratories in North Chicago, where he worked from 1946 until
121986; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After he retired, Ken Gutman traveled the world
14with his wife and visited many countries across Europe, Asia,
15and South America; he also had a passion for trap and skeet
16shooting and helped run the Conservation Club of Kenosha for
17several years; an avid fisherman and hunter, he spent many
18summers traveling with friends to fish in Canada and the
19Arctic, which kept his family well stocked with walleye and
20salmon; he loved to watch football, baseball, and golf; after
21moving to Michigan at the age of 92, he became a fan of the
22Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings; and

1    WHEREAS, Ken Gutman was preceded in death by his parents
2and his wife, Louise; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ken Gutman is survived by his sons, Gregory
4(Vicki) Gutman and David (Susan) Gutman; and his grandchildren,
5Sarah Louise Gutman and Andrew John Gutman; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Kenneth Carter "Ken" Gutman and extend our sincere condolences
9to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
10it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Ken Gutman as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
