SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph W. "Joe" Barth of Bloomington, who
4passed away on June 18, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe Barth was born in Winfield to John D. Sr. and
6Dorothy Baum Barth on August 15, 1940; he grew up in
7Bloomington and graduated from Trinity High School in 1958; he
8then graduated from Illinois State University; he married
9Sandra Johnson in Bloomington on June 14, 1969; he proudly
10served in the National Guard from 1963 until 1969; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Joe Barth began his teaching career at Trinity
12High School and later taught at Central Catholic High School,
13where he also coached for over 19 years; he was a professional
14photographer and photographed weddings and sports teams; he
15also served as an IHSA and ASA umpire for softball; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Joe Barth volunteered for the Muscular Dystrophy
17Association, where he coordinated the pledge center; he was
18active in the Cursillo Community and in the Bloomington Moose
19Lodge, where he held several offices, including governor; he
20was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church; he was a loving
21father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his
22grandchildren; and

1    WHEREAS, Joe Barth was preceded in death by his parents;
2his brothers, John D. Barth Jr. and Paul Barth; his sister,
3Barbara Crabtree; his infant sister, Hannah Barth; his
4brother-in-law, Wes Pettit; and his sister-in-law, Mary Jane
5Barth; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Joe Barth is survived by his wife, Sandra; his
7children, Joseph G. "Jay" (Tara) Barth, Jeff D. Barth, and Judy
8E. (Michael) Riggs; his grandchildren, Emma, Jill, Krista, and
9Alex Barth and Jackson Riggs; his brothers, Charles Barth,
10Michael (Alice) Barth, and William (Lynn) Barth; his sister,
11Elizabeth "Betty" Pettit; and his sister-in-law, Marcia Baum;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Joseph W. "Joe" Barth and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Joe Barth as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
