SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Frances N. "Fran" Macris of Joliet, who
4passed away on November 16, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frances Macris was born to Nicholas and Catherine
6(Kapellas) Cookas on July 26, 1920; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Frances Macris was a social and active woman who
8was deeply involved in her community; she served as the
9president for both the Women's Club of Joliet and the Pershing
10School PTA; she was a coordinator of volunteers for the
11American Red Cross and a member of the Silver Cross Hospital
12Advisory Board, volunteering many hours at the Encore Shop and
13as a member of the Hospitality Club; she was a devoted lifelong
14member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, serving on the
15Parish Council, the church choir, and with the Daughters of
16Penelope; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Frances Macris was married to a naval officer and
18also had two sons and a grandson who were officers; she
19actively supported her men in uniform and their professional
20careers; she selflessly devoted her life to her family and many
21friends; and

1    WHEREAS, Frances Macris was preceded in death by her loving
2and devoted husband of 46 years, Constantine A. Macris; her
3parents; and her siblings, Irene (William) Booras, George
4Cookas, Mitchell (Betty) Cookas, and Alexander Cookas; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frances Macris is survived by her sons, Dean
6(Margaret) Macris and Nicholas (Kathy) Macris; her
7grandchildren, Sophia Macris, Constantine (Deanna) Macris,
8Harrison Macris, and Maria Frances Macris; her
9great-grandchildren, Annika Macris and Lucia Macris; her
10sister-in-law, Mary Lou Cookas; her goddaughter, Michele
11Polvere; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore,
12be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Frances N. "Fran" Macris, and extend our sincere condolences to
16her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Frances Macris as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
