HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Bruce Clark on the
4occasion of his retirement as Kankakee County Clerk after 32
5years of service; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bruce Clark was first elected to the Office of
7Kankakee County Clerk in 1985; he went on to win eight
8consecutive elections, becoming the longest-serving county
9clerk in Illinois; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Throughout Bruce Clark's tenure, he and his staff
11have administered over 55 elections in his jurisdiction and
12participated in the observation, assistance, and supervision
13of elections in eight counties; and
 
14    WHEREAS, In 2014, Bruce Clark was recognized for promoting
15voting assistance for people with disabilities by the Options
16Center for Independent Living; in 2015, he received the
17Illinois Association of County Clerks and Recorders Award and
18was named the Illinois County Official of the Year by the
19Illinois Association of County Officials; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bruce Clark's accomplishments and abilities have
21been recognized internationally; in 2015, he received the First

1Time Voter Project Award from the International Center for
2Parliamentary Studies; he has served as an election observer
3throughout Eastern Europe with the Organization for Security
4and Co-operation in Europe; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bruce Clark is heavily involved in community
6service with organizations such as the Kiwanis Club, St. Paul's
7Lutheran Church and School, the United Way, the Salvation Army,
8the Helen Wheeler Center, and the American Cancer Society; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bruce Clark received his degree in political
10science from the University of Kentucky; he resides with his
11wife in Bourbonnais and together they have three children;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15congratulate Bruce Clark on his decades of service to the
16people of Kankakee County, the State of Illinois, and beyond,
17and we admire his constant drive to serve his community and
18ensure the integrity of elections; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to Bruce Clark as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
