HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Wheaton Warrenville South High School boys cross country team, the Tigers, on winning the 2018-2019 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A Cross Country State Championship on November 3, 2018; and

WHEREAS, The Tigers completed an undefeated season on their way to making history with their first ever state title in cross country; and

WHEREAS, The Tigers claimed the title by 40 points over the second place team; and

WHEREAS, The Tigers ranked as high as third in the nation during the season; and

WHEREAS, Three team members, William Hauenstein, Scott Maison, and Jacob Kluckhohn, placed in the top 15 overall in the state championship; and

WHEREAS, This is the second consecutive year the Tigers had a top 3 finish in the Class 3A state finals, an incredible accomplishment; and

WHEREAS, The Tigers went on to compete in the Nike Regional contest in Terre Haute, Indiana, racing against the top teams from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, and Ohio; and

WHEREAS, The Tigers earned second place and qualified to compete in the Nike National Cross Country Championships in Portland, Oregon, a contest featuring the top 22 teams in the country; and

WHEREAS, Winning the IHSA Class 3A Cross Country State Championship takes dedication from all the members of the active roster, as well as coaches and staff for support; and

WHEREAS, The Tigers are William Hauenstein, Scott Maison, Jacob Kluckhohn, Sean Maison, Jared Peaslee, Ethan Seng, and David Zeller; and

WHEREAS, Tigers' head coach, Chris Kuntz, is to be commended for helping lead these young men to an historical season and championship; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Wheaton Warrenville South High School boys cross country team, the Tigers, on winning the 2018-2019 Illinois High School Association Class 3A Cross Country State Championship; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we commend and applaud the Tigers and their outstanding coaching staff for their undefeated regular season, hard work, and dedication; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to each member of the Tigers and to each member of the coaching staff.
